Manage the Healthcare Systems group and responsible for the support, maintenance, enhancement and development of PNC’s healthcare applications portfolio. The group consists of 36 PNC software engineers divided into 4 different teams with 7 team members located in Tulsa and the remaining members in Pittsburgh. Major systems include an existing Healthcare Clearinghouse System, PNC’s corporate EDI system supporting both electronic commerce transactions and healthcare transactions, and the Healthcare Imaging System. Major project activity includes the development of the Healthcare Advantage System. This $30 million dollar project is an integrated healthcare revenue cycle solution for healthcare providers and the payers of such services. It will process all transactions between service providers and payers of those services from pre-registration through claims and collections utilizing decision support tools throughout the cycle. The system is utilizing the WebSphere product suite, Java, Oracle database, Oracle’s Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, Edifecs for HIPAA validation, a Contract Management claims repricing engine, and the iLog Business Rules Engine. Upcoming releases to focus on 5010 and ICD10 compliance. To overcome time to market pressures, we are employing an off shore vendor to assist in the development of the system. My responsibilities include managing the off shore relationship and the deliverables their responsible for. Their project team consists of 20 on site resources and 45 off shore resources.

Managed the Applications Engineering Department and was responsible for the support, maintenance, and enhancement of Giant Eagle’s applications portfolio. In addition to supporting the corporate headquarters, the Giant Eagle environment included support for over 240 supermarkets including pharmacies, 120 fuel sites, and 7 distribution warehouses. Major responsibilities also included overseeing development activities whether in house developed applications or implementations of packaged software. Within my job responsibilities, I was a member of the Integrated Supply Chain Committee and the Operating Efficiency Committee. Both teams were cross functional teams charged with improving operating efficiencies in the stores and distribution warehouses. The Integrated Supply Chain team was charged to reduce supply chain costs by $50 million over three years. This team was trained and utilized the principles of the Toyota Production System to introduce improvements and reliability to business processes. Initial projects included Master Data, Perpetual Inventory and Auto Replenishment. The Operating Efficiency team was charged with reducing operational costs by $25 million over the next year. Integral to these improvements were the implementation of Blue Cube’s Time Attendance & Labor Scheduling systems as well as improving shrink through best practices and a front end shrink tool from Evolution Robotics called Lanehawk Managed organization of 140 Information Technology professionals Developed and Managed Annual Expense Budget in excess of $21.5 Million Developed and Managed Annual Capital Project Budget in excess of $25 Million

Managed 55 systems engineering professionals including DBA’s, MVS, UNIX, and Windows system programmers, and network engineers. I was a part of a 6 person team that restructured the Information Technology organization of 335 individuals into resource pools by technology discipline. After restructuring was completed, I managed the Systems Engineering resource pool, and was responsible for the assignments, performance management, salary administration, career development, training, and recruiting for the system engineering discipline at the Westinghouse Savannah River Company. In this role, I became a certified trainer in team development training as presented by Development Dimensions, Inc. I was also a member of the team responsible for evaluating the possible outsourcing of Information Technology at the site to Computer Sciences Corporation. The team reached the decision to retain Information Technology support in house.
