I’ve worked with Michael twice in my career, once as a subordinate and once as a peer. It’s been a pleasure both times. He first hired me on as a founding member of BlueJeans’ SMB team, a team he originated, built, and scaled. The performance of that team outstripped that of segments above, and his whole team went to President’s Club: testament to his coaching abilities, product understanding, and ability to run a tight sales cycle amid fierce competition. I later went to work with him at Deepgram, which at the time was about 70 people. He was quite successful there, relying on his ability to communicate well with customers, to clearly articulate why someone would (or wouldn’t) buy a product competing with technology giants, and think creatively to bridge gaps in the company’s content marketing, documentation, and similar. His skillset goes well beyond traditional selling – he’s capable of generating his own resources and items needed to achieve the desired outcome, of working well internally, and coaching.

Michael is a diligent leader that cares about his reps and the quality of work that he puts forth. I appreciated the extra steps he would take to make sure myself and others on the team were taken care of and had the resources we needed to do our job. I personally owe some of my successes in my own career to Katwan since he took a bet on hiring me and then advocated for me and provided the resources I needed to be successful. He also seems to get along with everyone that he works with and I've personally seen him adapt to challenging working environments without allowing external difficulties affect his demeanor when working w/his team.
