Having worked closely with Michael on the Russian sales desk, I was able to observe the range of skills he brought forth to the company. In addition to his financial acumen in both equities and fixed income, Michael exhibited very strong managerial skills from the day to day functioning of the office to strengthening the business as a whole. He is highly competent, enjoys taking on new challenges and has an innate ability to manage a variety of tasks. Moreover, Michael has the ability to see projects through to their completion in a highly focused manner and motivate colleagues in the process. I have worked side -by-side with Michael for over six years in the Corporate Finance Division of Mizuho Financial Group and UniCredit/Aton Securities. In both positions he served as Managing Director and unit leader. He, very quickly, demonstrated his abilities as a strong business developer as he identified several major projects and advised on them in places such as Latin America, Europe and the US (i.e. PE firm’s acquisition of an oil service company) He also showed his excellent client relationship skills by negotiating alliances, partnerships and co investment opportunities for the projects with several counterparts and investors. His specialty, among others, was to develop new business lines within the firms he worked for inside the limits of an allocated budget. I am confident he will be able to make an immediate as well as positive impact on any financial organization.
