While at UNC, I worked underneath Michael as an assistant academic counselor. He gave me the opportunity to gain more experience within the football unit. Michael’s leadership allowed me to grow significantly in a short amount of time. He stands for a student centered environment and truly practices what he preaches. His passion for student athletes and their success with life after sport never goes unnoticed and he is constantly doing research on ways we can better reach our student athletes. Michael was a great supervisor and mentor during my time at UNC and it was a privilege to be underneath someone who has the qualities and skills to become a director one day.

In my time working with Michael at the University of Maryland, I was impressed by his ability to effectively lead and inspire his staff as well as the student-athletes he served. He was the epitome of servant leader, as no one would out work Michael. He would not expect his students or his staff to put in work that he wouldn't do himself. He makes it overwhelmingly clear how much he cares. When that is paired with supremely his implementation of pragmatic and practical policy, he is a leader in the highest order. I would consider myself lucky to work on Michael's staff in the future.
