Software developer working In the area of Energy Demand Management of sites distributed across Ireland and the UK Core Projects: Design and implementation of a Dynamic Firm Frequency Response system, performing real time balancing of distributed assets, delivering an aggregate response that changes with the frequency. Design, construction and implementation of a Demand Side Unit software suite allowing for control and actuation of generators and large site load equipment. In detail this project involved Utilising an encrypted distributed communications network to communicate with sites Building autonomous multi threaded SCADA system to analyse and control said sites Building in redundancy and alarming to control systems Building operator interfaces for manual control of distributed network of devices Additionally, I have been involved in support activities such as site testing with eirgrid and SEMO in setting up the DSU. I am familiar with EDIL, the market participant interface, and the grid code of Ireland. Analysis and reporting of energy profiles for optimisation: I have built detailed dashboard style applications modelling customer production processes to view live data from across a plant, control systems remotely. Additionally I have designed and implemented Overall Equipment Effectiveness systems for analysing a process for it's effectiveness using multivariate data sources.

Research Engineer working on Enterprise Ireland supported projects with globally trading companies. Projects have been varied including indoor localisation systems for fire training, novel interface design for collaborative information exchange for museums and exhibitions. Duties have included; Sensor selection for unusual tasks in a wide range of areas (passive infra-red proximity, microwave proximity, temperature, inertia, optical imaging, ultrasonic proximity, heart rate, RFID, Hall effect, pressure & wireless network devices such as Xbee kits) I’ve handled Calibration of these sensors and automating their calibration routines, Integrating Sensors into a matrix array and designing the network backbone for wireless data collection Programming Experience; C for microcontrollers (Atmel) and desktop applications. Python for TCP/IP flow control of data, and image data extraction Java for various devices such as the Oracle Sunspot C# & JavaScript for Unity3d Design of user interface and data display. C# for desktop applications with local database storage, sensor data acquisition over USB serial, calibration of controlled sensors and uploading of data to online storage.
