DFW Externship- Tarrant County D.A.'s Office Fall 2013 • Under the supervision of an attorney, using my 3rd year bar card, I was involved in criminal case evaluations. I worked anywhere from 35 to 45 hours a week. • Drafted over 200 plea recommendations for misdemeanor cases. • Attended trial dockets and witness meetings. Dockets included regular and contest dockets where I negotiated plea agreements with defense attorneys. • Helped in the disposition of approximately 800 cases during my externship. • Actively participated in motion hearings, including legal research in four motions to suppress evidence. • Actively participated in jury trials. This included sitting first-chair in three different trials where I conducted voir dire, selected a jury, conducted opening statements, directed state witnesses, crossed defense witnesses, responded to objections from opposing counsel, and argued during close. • Actively participated in trial by sitting second-chair in six trials where I supported co-counsel by taking part in opening statements, directing state witnesses, and arguing during closing argument. • Assisted in preparing felony cases for Grand Jury Presentation. • Attended legal training put on by the office and participated in weekly section meetings.
