I was tasked with identifying, as well as creating the plan of action to correct, a multimillion dollar budget overrun in our energy expenditure. I successfully identified multiple issues, including a lack of required preventative maintenance, inadequate manpower utilization by the Manager of Facilities Maintenance, an incorrectly installed meter, and the failure to properly cross reference and verify energy billing charges by the Manager of Administration and/or the Manager of Facilities Maintenance. The manpower issues and improper preventative maintenance resulted in an increased workload on the HVAC system which results in significantly increased use of electricity as well as both heated (steam) and chilled water. The improperly installed meter has resulted in over 7 years of being billed for chilled water that was never used, this is still being worked on by the original engineering firm, corporate real estate, and corporate accounting, to come to a total of the over billing, but our initial estimation locally is in the multiple millions of dollars. When I began confirming our energy bills against the meter logs maintained by our Johnson Controls' designed and installed system I discovered a monthly billing error of over $35000. When I inquired I learned I was the first person to log the internal readings and match them to the bills. I also learned our building management system was several years out of date so I also worked with Johnson Controls for a proposal to update our systems, both hardware and software, to lead to better controls and increased efficiency. In addition to these responsibilities I maintained all OSHA, EPA, and safety certifications. I was the primary back up to the station Lead Environmental Coordinator, wrote the 2013 Environmental Business Plan, and identified and created the plan to correct deficiencies in required training at JFK. Each of my three years in this role I led the company in performance with the best lost time rates, injury rates, and lost work injury rates in the entire system. I also designed and implemented a training program that became a mandatory management training class in the New York Region for which I was also the lead instructor. In addition to my primary roles I served as the lead investigator for Ramp Services at JFK, successfully leading investigations into employee violations of both company policy, criminal acts, security violations, company travel regulations, as well as safety and compliance policies. I frequently liaised with corporate legal, outside counsel, corporate security, local & federal law enforcement, and local & federal prosecutors. I frequently was called to testify and/or present evidence for the company in courts, hearings, and arbitration. In addition I successfully represented the company, as a non attorney representative, in many hearings in front Administrative Law Judges at the Department of Labor Hearing Offices.
