I manage the Marketing and Communications Team which is responsible for marketing, PR and Media and Digital Communications. Recently, the team also took on additional responsibilities for Internal Communications. The remit covers corporate level communications and support for the three separate business streams - Retirement Housing, Extra Care housing and Home Care. Duties and responsibilities include oversight and provision of all marketing and promotional materials, marketing support for nearly 500 housing courts around the country, media handling, proactive PR targeting the local, regional, national and sector press, social media, as well as managing the organisation's website and on-line presence on external sites. Within two months of taking on the Internal Communications role I had managed the introduction of weekly and monthly staff newsletters and produced a quarterly magazine for care staff and a programme of materials to support a drive to improve quality standards in the care services. I led the organisation's media handling during a number of high-profile issues, focusing on delivering accurate, timely and effective communication, including when dealing with difficult and complex messages. I established the press office as a straight-forward, trusted and reliable source of information. Later, I took on additional responsibility for communications around the GCSE and A level reform programme.
