Bio
Michael Johnston
Michael is the longest tenured member of our investment team at Steelhead - being a critical part of our success since our genesis in 1997. Over that period, Michael developed Steelhead’s standing as a reputable counter party, with oversight for strategy execution across multiple asset classes. He also played a key role within the portfolio as an analyst, contributing to thematic long ideas and hedging strategies. He has been a critical part of effectively communicating our investment process and operational best practices through extensive interaction with limited partners and banking counterparties. In short, there are not many scenarios or structures in the marketplace that would come as a surprise to Michael. After almost 30 years in this business, there is no other person that I have higher regard for when it comes to character. Michael is the most dependable, loyal, respectful, hard-working, ethical man any business partner could ask for. We literally could not of experienced the success we have had without him. There are few individuals in the Seattle area that have the expertise and experience Michael has in the capital markets. This, combined with a personality that inspires confidence and trust, I feel that Michael would be a critical player in any organization looking to solve complex challenges or grow their business - He is a world class gentleman and a winner.

I’ve worked with Mike Ridgeway since 2008 and have come to know and respect him as one of my favorite people in the investment industry. He has been an integral member of both the investment team as well as lending his expertise to the operational department when necessary. Mike has the highest drive and passion for investing that is required to be a successful key contributor in this industry. Mike’s ability to lead through collaboration make him a valuable member of any team/company as he’s always looking for ways to improve processes while building comradery amongst co-workers. Mike is truly one of my favorites in our industry and look forward to working with him again if our paths cross.
