I hired Michael to work on the graphic design for an extremely important project I had going. It was my biggest and last attempt at differentiating myself from other hungry marketers looking to break their way into the industry. My idea was pretty bold. It was extensive, elaborate and I wasn’t completely confidant that it would achieve my goal…to get a job interview. But I had a clear vision of what I wanted and Michael was amazing at making my idea a reality. As a graphic designer, Michael is extremely talented. It was very easy to collaborate with him on my project as he offered clear and actionable suggestions based on his experience. The end result of his work was a project that surpassed what I had envisioned to begin with. Yes, he was that good. I worked with Michael through his transition from freelance to associate creative director and during that time I came to view him as a mentor and industry insider. He was always enthusiastic and offered encouragement readily. Michael would never say a bad word about any of my ideas but would suggest things that I had never thought of if he felt a different direction would work better. It’s easy to see that he is an excellent leader and I would recommend him for any venture he took on. I would hire him again, or jump at the chance to work for him.

Great ideas and design are everything – I am a firm believer that both are needed in equal measure for exceptional results. After over a decade of delivering those results for some of the worlds top brands, I found it was time for a new challenge and change from Toronto agency life. I was looking for a city and an agency that felt more like family and less anonymous – enter adHOME.At adHOME I bring a passion for design, strategy, and conceptual thinking that not only builds brands, but also builds them better with engaging solutions. At Squareknot I developed and executed full advertising campaigns as well as the components of larger media initiatives (including mock-ups, DM, and in-store POP). Additionally I have been a proven asset in new business development by creating dynamic presentations, and brand strategies. I also ensured the quality and effectiveness of creative and production work throughout the critical path. Feb 2008 - Jun 2013
As a creative lead, I have had to wear many hats. I have directed copywriters, designers, photographers, web developers, and illustrators to facilitate the production of a wide variety of projects in print, digital and integrated. Additionally, I often presented to, and have worked directly with clients, to formulate strategic solutions. Fully versed in print, I have managed all production, including file prep, press checks, and delivery. I played a key role in the development of presentations for new business, and as a result furthered my skills into video and animation. Show less

My responsibilities were widespread, from executing projects independently from conception to completion, to leading a team of designers. Naturally, presenting to clients was a large part of my role. The work I produced varied from brochures to annual reports to corporate identities. In addition I managed all aspects of print production from files to press. Working with both the publisher and the authors, I created cover artwork that was strategically/emotionally related to the core values and ideas in the book. Some authors I have worked with include: Shyamal Bagchee, Lien Chao, Madeline Coopsammy, and former poet laureate Cyril Dabydeen.
