  Chief of the Shops, Yards, and Mechanical Section at the Soo Locks. I was responsible for planning and implementing the preventative and repair maintenance to the lock facility. Some of the major systems I was responsible for maintaining included: a 6400 cfm compressed air system, a 5 MMBTu high pressure steam system, multiple hydraulic actuation systems, and multiple gear driven actuation systems. One major construction project that I achieved was the complete replacement of the hydraulic actuation system on the largest lock on the Great Lakes, the Poe Lock. I managed a crew of over 30 technical and tradespeople who helped me to achieve the goal of minimizing outages of the navigation locks. These employees included: engineers, machinists, welders, millwrights, mechanics, carpenters, and construction workers. Show less
