  I supervise the staff responsible for developing and maintaining Florida Medicaid coverage and limitations policy for all acute care services and child health services. I am personally responsible for setting the tone for a positive work environment, ensuring proper distribution of assignments; follow up to ensure timely completion of said assignments and providing direction to enhance productivity and the quality of the work product. My staff is comprised of policy analysts, professional consultants, administrative assistants and three supervisors who report directly to me. Acute care services include Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Dental, Hospital, Durable Medical Equipment, Ambulatory Surgery, Hearing and Vision, Family Planning, and Transportation services. Child Health Services includes policies regarding screening for birth and developmental issues, evaluating developmental delays, devising appropriate care plans, providing therapy and school based services. We also develop and maintain policies to help Medicaid recipients access programs aimed at reducing the occurrence of very low birth-weight babies and infant mortality Activities in my unit involve tracking and identifying new health care technologies and creating position recommendations, amending the Florida Medicaid state plan, developing administrative code rules for implementing coverage and limitations policy and updating codes for claim processing, producing reports and facilitating and responding to audits. As the subject matter experts for Medicaid acute care policy we respond to all recipient, provider, media and legislative inquiries seeking explanation or clarification of acute care policies.
