Dealing with claims arising under the Council's insurance arrangements and assist the Insurance & Risk Management Officer in the administration of the service.Responsibilities: To investigate, assess and negotiate settlement of public liability claims involving damage to property, general property claims and motor claims, including recovery of repair costs where appropriate. To carry out the initial investigation on PL and EL personal injury claims. To provide advice to all levels of the Council in insurance matters.Skills Needed: An understanding of the legal principles and case law relating to insurance claims, good communication and negotiation skills, familiarity with insurance policies, an understanding of basic health & safety and general risk management principles. Ability to stay calm under pressure, to be able to respond calmly and appropriately to customers.
