Events/Safety Steward
-
Jul 2019 - Mar 2020
Event/Safety Steward for G4S at various festivals, public arenas and sporting events. Duties include crowd control, customer liaison, turnstile management and public egress from events. Safety Stewards worked as a team to ensure a safe environment for patrons/fans as well as a visible deterrent for any possible potential public disorder from individuals. Working in this role, I found myself in situations where I would have to be calm and neutral in order to placate any disruptive individuals I found myself dealing with until trained security personnel came along to remove them.

Team Leader
-
Jul 2018 - Aug 2018
Two-week contract working with Spectrum Service Solutions as a Team Leader of a small team in their waste management workforce during the 2018 European Championships at Glasgow Green venue. Job responsibilities included the following: ensuring all waste bins were at correct collection points at the end of each day for refuse collection lorries to empty; ensuring waste bins were in correct locations at all time during public opening hours; sweeping the venue area at regular intervals to ensure all bins were in a satisfactory manner and removing any that were overflowing with waste; ensuring that all hazardous waste was removed in a safe manner with the correct equipment. Teamwork was crucial as there was only a small window of opportunity to ensure bins were in their correct uplift areas before Glasgow City Council refuse collection vehicles arrived on site to empty and return all waste bins.

Fulfilment Centre Associate
-
Feb 2008 - Feb 2018
Fulfilment Centre associate in Amazon UK Services Ltd Gourock GLA1 warehouse. Fulfilled various Tier 1, 2, and 3 roles across my ten years with the company. Left to pursue a new challenge via university. Tier 1 roles – Cross-trained as a picker/packer/shipper/stower to meet shipping deadlines and/or production quotas. Peak demand times required working as a team to ensure customer promise was met. For example on a packing bench, rather than working individually, packers would work together on the same batch of orders to ensure shipping deadlines were met. Tier 2 roles: Dockmaster - which included the safe loading and unloading of goods vehicles, the safe release of HGVs parked in the docking bays and ensuring that the inventory being delivered was of the correct quantity and matched any paperwork that the dockmaster received from delivery drivers. Teamwork was integral to ensure a smooth and safe operation. Tier 3 roles - Team lead in the following separate departments: Picking, Packing, and Shipping, where it was my responsibility to lead a team of employees and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that we met our customer promise in a safe and productive manner. Teamwork and clear communication were a necessity to ensure a successful collaborative approach to meeting customer deadlines.
