Other duties include being the Fire Marshall for the building, responible for the safe evacuation and accounting for all persons in the event of a fire. Responsible for all firefighting equipment and fire doors are closed over with no possible hazards obstructing evacuation routes.Taking charge of fire and evacuation drills.Taking notes and highlighting and problems or shortfalls during the drills. Due to the nature of work and hazards within the dockyard including Nuclear hazards, the evacuation drills in the event of a nuclear hazard took place, which would be part controlled by the operations room. In charge of the Operations Room while the ship was at sea in the Middle East, ensuring my team provided a very professional service to the command, using Radar and all communications available.Helping and managing the progress of junior members in my department through taskbook training.COSHH Management. The health and safety checks of the messdeck, and on the upperdeck of the ship, ensuring the work that has been assigned is carried out as specified, with the correct PPE being worn depending on the risk assessment of the task. The carrying out of Risk Assessments prior to any hazardous work being carried out, determining the level of risk to the person's involved and minimising any possible accidents. Team Leader of the 5 man fire fighting team, along with being Team Leader of the damage control team for the aft section of the ship.Welfare representitive for more than 100 junior ratings.Controlling access to and from the ship, while ensuring that all contractual work that is being undertaken is carried out professionally in accordance with the risk assessment. During this period of time, the role on the Oil Platform was the teaching and mentoring of all the Foreign Nationals.To conduct the training and mentoring it required clear and precise communiction on the procedures of controlling the areas around the platform.Implimenting a safe systems of work - including clearing the areas when Oil Tankers were arriving or departing, which would involve coordinating with three Naval Patrol Craft, whilst still maintaining the safety of all persons aboard the Oil Platform.
