In my time working with Michael, I have seen him excel in meeting and exceeding his stated goals and tasks. When my department was shorthanded offsite he was willing to assist us until we hired a replacement at that location. He immediately picked up on the basics and nuances of the duties of my group and managed to step into a role that normally takes over a month of training to prepare for while at the same time meeting all his tasks for his team as well. Not only was he the reason my department met its goals on the days he assisted us, but he also located several areas of improvement in our workflows that have saved us time and money. If you need a competent man on your team who can multitask, learn quickly, and contribute to your team, I would recommend Michael Feiler without reservation.

• Developed processes and procedures within a HIPAA/HITECH environment with HL7 systems, Active Directory and Cisco Unified Communications Manager • Applied SOLID principles to SQL work within the domain to ensure the code used is well-designed, extendable, and maintainable. • Analyzed data processing checklists for optimization and impact analysis of failure modes. • Verified business environment using process and impact analysis, reviewed log files and asset inventory of relevant items within the domain. • Reviewed and refactored the unconstrained organic growth of the domain's core data set, solving among other issues a key amalgamation crisis of two data sets in a table that were simply offset by a large row number with a constructed key and pending collision, moving to a composite key and further identifying opportunities to build surrogate keys appropriately to more efficiently use data across the domain. • Built scaffolded queries to analyze data structures to then build demarcated layers of data flows to properly separate tasks and orders of operations in the data environment. • Ran a development sprint to take a database's daily Fill and kill process taking 8 hours a day and turned it into a 7 minute process; replaced 60GB data traversing the network to under 1GB per day. This resulted in freeing up sufficient resources to allow the domain to run a true dev environment for the first time. • Built dependency aware job parallelization process for queries to minimize server job execution times. • Assisted IT with implementing role-based ACLs for current and new employees. • Developed and implemented a SQL skills training program to update the data team on modern best practices.

Learned Agile/Scrum methodologies, utilized them to lead the development and deployment of our company's first Software Development Lifecycle.Developed deployment model (SDLC), then automated it with using Jenkins for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD.)Prototyped moving to GOCD for automated deployment moving to swarm architecture using an AWS backend with on-prem Docker swarm with a model of resource availability by max concurrent users by node. This required data layers that were scoped to be for it and applications (.net with angular UI/UX and SQL backend) that were designed for this process.Led Stkaeholder meetingsWorked with 30 programmers across multiple disciplines and continents to work on the same standards/branching strategies/code reviews/pipelines by interviewing them, training them, and coaching them to the process of the SDLC that we created.Worked with systems team to get architectural support for those same systems in AD, AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. Supported non-AD/MS systems (Linux/MySQL) as well.Personally did all deployment prototyping during testing and implementation phases of the SDLC. • Coordinated deployment strategy and served as the administrator for source control, knowledge base, and bug tracking solutions. • Designed, implemented, and maintained automated deployment pipeline using Jenkins and GoCD. • Advocated for better communication and collaboration between enterprise groups. • Ensured adherence to best practices for application data layer design standards.

Senior Database Architect (title Senior Database Administrator)

Apr 2014 - Sep 2016
Hired multiple team members to build an enterprise variant of the datamart implementation that was successful in a single businessline. This allowed for corporate KPIs across all clients, allowing for greater forecasting of data needs into the future. Built a spec document for onboarding new clients as part of the Master Service Agreement(MSA) to provide immediate reporting capabilities. Time from spec document being filled to being onboard capable was 6 hours.Recovered in-house developed legacy payroll system after a critical failure by using an 8 year old backup of the software and rewrote the transformation logic that had been lost. Successfully imported data-only backup with no data loss after recovery.Supported an enterprise wide version update from Avaya R13 to R18, reviewing, documenting, and refactoring undocumented legacy code, migration from primary to composite key data solutions.Replaced legacy in-house onboarding and provisioning system with a new system importing from a single source of truth to a data warehouse using a process execution engine that recognized differences across records (change data management) and making actions based on those changes for employee management across Active Directory, Avaya, and other supported systems as needed.Created and implemented a corporate Disaster Response/Recovery strategy. Spec'd out online retention, deep storage retention, backup and test of systems, documenting backup availability and SLAs, monitored growth, and HA/DR criteria. • Scoped, designed, built, and implemented data flow processes from over 100 application types and sources to Data Warehouse and Data Mart storage. • Managed data availability, integrity, security, and redundancy for both client and enterprise data. • Provided project management and resource allocation for a 4-person team. • Created and managed disaster recovery strategy. • Communicated and enforced best practices for development using SQL, SSIS, and MDX.

Built from scratch reporting for a new telephony system (Five9), built the data models, import process, KPIs, reports, and also isolated API discrepancies with the new system and reported them to the vendor for their own process improvements.Learned SSIS and became SME for the department as a result on this subject, created templatized package design that allowed for design requirements needing only 20% of user-defined configurations that were better performing vs previously deployed solutions.Worked with data architect to build enterprise level packages as a result of the quality of the above builds.Worked with developers to expand sales trackers to handle credit card data while respecting all legal requirements (PCI-DSS, etc.) for data security.Scoped, designed, built, implemented a datamart and templatized report interface that had core KPIs built into it and added the ability for users to modify the report as a configuration to send it back to the data team in a format that could be one click deployed. • Managed project intake and executed and validated over 50 hosted reports. • Created dynamic reports and automated reports using data-driven techniques. • Designed unique set-based calculations to efficiently derive contact center KPIs using SQL, SSRS, and SSIS. • Consistently maintained high standards for SQL query performance and report accuracy.
