I worked with Mica in Denver as a colleague in the refugee support services network. Mica was accountable, creative and driven. Her efforts produced countless avenues of employments for refugees as well as established connections outside the network that benefit refugees and refugee serviced providers to this day.

While serving together at No One Left Behind, I came to admire Mica's expansive knowledge of social work in our field and an undeniable compassion for our organization's mission and the community it serves. I'm thankful for her contributions and commend her for your consideration.

No One Left Behind (NOLB) works across the country to resettle the Afghans and Iraqis who served alongside US Armed Forces overseas; to provide them access to opportunities and resources for greater community integration and to empower them to lead safe, productive lives. As Director of Resettlement, I write grant proposals and pursue community partnerships. I collaborate with the Board of Directors, Founder and CEO, and COO on fundraising, outreach, media, and social media initiatives. I train local chapter heads on resettlement strategies, key issues with SIV recipient populations, volunteer management, and job placement techniques. I respond to veterans and SIV applicants seeking assistance with immigration and I manage volunteers in the DC Metro Chapter. I respond to check requests from the local chapter heads and assist chapter heads in creating resettlement plans for individual families.

Ecumenical Refugee and Immigration Services (ERIS) helps to resettle refugees, asylees, and Special Immigration Visa holders who are legally in Colorado (through Church World Service and Episcopal Migration Ministries), by providing them assistance with educational needs, family and social services, medical attention, employment, and cultural orientation. The main goal of ERIS is to help refugees become self-sufficient and independent as quickly as possible. ERIS has been working with refugees in this manner since 1979, resettling about 600 new refugees annually. ERIS resettles refugees from diverse locations such as Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma (Myanmar), Russia, Ukraine, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Cuba, and more.As a Job Developer, I was responsible for building and managing a portfolio of employer relationships, introducing employers to diversity employment strategies, providing business consulting services (regarding interviewing and hiring, safety, retention, and training best practices) and providing employment placement services. This position was based on a sales model approach, selling the added value of our employment services, rather than a candidate based sales approach.Certificate, Employment Outcomes Professional II, DTG-EMP
