Adam Weinberger, PhD

Mia is one of the most impressive students that I have encountered at Georgetown University. I first had the pleasure of meeting her in my rigorous psychology seminar, The Network Neuroscience of Learning. Students were expected to read detailed empirical papers, extract the key points, and deliver concise, evidence-based papers and presentations. Mia excelled in all of these areas. In particular, Mia was a key contributor to classroom discussion and was never shy about sharing her observations or questions, which prompted others to engage with the research topic. She consistently demonstrated exceptional communication and analysis skills, often thinking up (on the fly) ways to improve research articles. When giving class presentations, Mia more closely resembled a senior graduate student than someone still completing her undergrad degree; she was focused, poised, and communicated in a level-headed manner. She was able to articulate highly technical material in a clear and engaging way. Mia also displayed technical writing skills that were considerably more advanced than her undergraduate peers. Her written contributions synthesized cross-sector research concisely and drew carefully considered conclusions that extended beyond the material covered in class. My edits on her written response were always quite minor, but Mia fully embraced my feedback nonetheless, and was able to consistently improve upon her already exceptional work. In short, Mia is a high achiever who displays outstanding analytic skills, exhibits a remarkable attention to detail, and is able to accurately translate highly complex information in an access way. She would be a valuable asset to any team in any and all professional fields.
