Projects and responsibilities: - Created a design thinking process about the consumer web experience for the entire company to use daily - Coordinated data collection and communicated member profiles to entire company - Developed empathy maps to understand how each BCI consumers thinks, feels, does, and says about their healthcare - Researched and compiled information on the consumer experience related to healthcare - Developed an interviewing process and performed interviews with healthcare consumers to compare real data with my hypothesized empathy maps - Compared research findings and presented to leads how BCI could best cater to their consumers via an updated website - Gained experience in interviewing, research, data collection, hypothesizing, etc. through hands-on experience - Overall assisted BCI in developing a single location for thorough and legitimate data on how healthcare users feel about their web experience; this important data can be used to improve the website experience of each member profile to its fullest extent Key Takeaways: Through this internship and its paired Work U course, I developed the skills to present myself as an ideal candidate, through online platforms like LinkedIn and through physical documents like my resume and work portfolio. I have practiced my interviewing skills through a mock interview, investigated a potential career of interest through an informational interview, and learned about the importance of networking and making connections through guest speakers. I learned how to persevere through tough workplace situations and circumstances. Sometimes you hit a roadblock, but it is what you do to continue on that matters. Through the work with my mentor and coworkers, I became a more communicative and dependable employee. Spending my entire internship dedicated to developing this single project of consumer experience research led me to value patience and persistence when it comes to professional projects. Show less
