  ActiveWatch — 2022: After restoring a static file copy of the old website, I built a new website, using Wagtail and Tailwind, based on Figma mockups created by a professional designer, and migrated the old content. I also automated the deployment and backups. Liquid Investigations — 2017-2018, 2020: The project initially supported an EIC investigation by building a search engine for large file leaks, using Django, Elasticsearch and Tesseract, and quickly grew to provide private integrated collaboration tools. With a grant from Google DNI fund, we packaged the tools as a self-managed platform, capable of being hosted on low-cost easily portable hardware. This evolved into a mature product, orchestrated on top of Nomad, being used by multiple newsrooms. I was involved in most aspects of design, implementation and support. iMedicare — 2016: Worked as part of the backend team to batch-analyse complex medical insurance plans and generate recommendations. Click&Collect — 2015-2016: Design, implement and maintain the platform (backend: Django; mobile app: React and Cordova) for a logistics startup that offered last-mile delivery to a nearby store for self-pickup. Integrated with an estabilished logistics company to deliver their parcels. Schubert & Franzke — 2015-2016: Implemented a whitelabel mobile app for city guides using React and Cordova. Parlament Transparent — 2014-2015: Scraping Romanian Parliament website to quantise MPs' activity for political science research. I'm the senior engineer in a distributed team, working on the Django/DRF API, infrastructure (AWS, CDK), and security.   I proposed, designed, and led a team that developed a reporting platform for UNCCD, that received data from member states, in the form of web forms and raster map files, which was then reviewed by UN experts, before a final PDF report was generated. I worked closely with UNCCD stakeholders to model the reporting process, and with Trends.Earth to import data for reporting countries. The project was built on Django, Vue Formulate, Mapserver and OpenLayers.
