Nexio Projects helps businesses transition towards a more sustainable future by assisting them in improving their sustainability performance. We specialize in sustainability strategy, reporting, and technical solutions such as energy-efficiency and GHG emissions tracking and reporting, amongst other capabilities. As part of the Climate team, I take part in carbon footprint assessments and developing and implementing reduction strategies to help companies become more sustainable. We also assess the risks and opportunities related to climate change and current and future regulation to make businesses more resilient. • Climate KIC Journey
      • Jul 2020 - Sep 2020

The Journey is Europe's largest climate innovation summer school. It is organised by EIT Climate-KIC, the European knowledge and innovation community, working towards a prosperous, inclusive, climate-resilient society founded on a circular, zero-carbon economy. The Journey is a four-week full time residential programme, focused on climate action, innovation, systems transformation, and community building. During the journey I learned a lot of new skills on system thinking and change making. Together with my group (Soil Liberation Front) we launched a project with a focus on regenerating agricultural soils. We developed a peer to peer programme for farmers to enable them to switch to agricultural practice that store carbon in the soil (nowadays most agricultural soils release CO2 in to the air). During the transition period the farmers get funded by businesses within their value chain that finance to offset their carbon. Show less

      • Jul 2014 - Jul 2019

During my work I spend most time coming up with ideas (or in fancy words 'creative solutions to communication challenges') designing visual identities and advertising campaigns. As an art-director I would be overseeing the whole creative process, working together with different photographers, filmmakers, animators, musicians and more talented people. I worked for a variety of clients, including NEMO Science Museum, the Dutch Government, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Provamel, Women Inc, IDFA, het Koning Willem I college and Greenpeace. Show less

During their exam-period, we (Maartje Slijpen and me) supervised and mentored all soon-to-be graduates at the Interdisciplinary Art department at Maastricht University. They had the opportunity to choose their final-exam teachers themselves and they approached us. The projects came together in the final exposition 'My Way or the Highway', which took place in the back of 5 trucks.
