Becoming a writer was a childhood dream. In reality, I did published research articles that required minimal writing skills (i.e. direct description without emotion). I have been working with Crossing, a novel media that gathers opinions young people from different backgrounds, to share the spin-off of scientific research. Becoming a writer was a childhood dream. I completed my PhD research in the laboratories of Dr. Bruno Antonny and Dr. Emmanuel Lemichez. This joint project combined the expertise of two laboratories to study the impacts of polyunsaturated lipids on bacterial invasion in primary cell culture. This project relied strongly on microscopy and quantitative image analysis, including live-cell microscope, confocal microscope, FRAP, and super-resolution microscope. In collaboration with bioinformatics and biophysics teams, we developed an automatic image analysis program and a mathematical model to study the dynamic tunnels induced by bacterial toxins in a quantitative way. This project involved 4 research teams and demanded a perfect mastery of the literature, extensive knowledge in very broad fields ranging from physics to cell biology and metabolomics. The necessity of a high degree of organization and communication has enabled me to strengthen my presentation, reasoning and discussion skills. Therefore, apart from my main project, I participated in the 3 studies from 3 different teams. Together, we published 4 articles during my PhD. My responsibilities are: -Coordinate and develop a research project -Design, schedule, and conduct experiment -Data analysis and visualization -Protocol development -Inter and intra team communication -Literature review -Storytelling, grant writing and scientific writing -Mentor master students

In the lab of Dr. Hung-Yuan Chi, my main duty was to establish the system of yeast-two hybrid autonomously and explore new techniques for protein purification. In addition, I also purified proteins from bacteria expression system using FPLC. My responsibilities are: -Design, schedule, and conduct experiments -Report and discuss with senior researchers -Protocol development -Large-scale protein purification -Trouble-shooting In the lab of Dr. Hung-Yuan Chi, my main duty was to establish the system of yeast-two hybrid autonomously and explore new techniques for protein purification. Two-year full-time master internship in the lab of Dr. Fang-Jen Lee to characterize the role of human ARL4s and their interacting partners. I studied the protein-protein interactions in vitro using biochemical techniques and in vivo using immunofluorescence of cultured cell. This project was published on Molecular Biology of Cell. This experience allowed me to be autonomous on a project and equipped me the capability of protocol development. Two-year part-time internship in the lab of Dr. Mei-Er Chen where I conducted an independent project focusing on cloning of genes and their characterisations using qPCR. We published this study, and I was cited as first author because of my involvement in this project.
