Appointed Interim CEO, while continuing to maintain COO duties, at critical point in organization’s comprehensive rebranding campaign. Created and implemented a 90-day action plan to ensure successful transition from “Great Plans Regional Medical Center” to “Great Plains Health,” as well as continuation of construction on new patient tower and initiatives to improve patient satisfaction scores. Lead 16 direct reports and administer $144M annual operating budget. Directed planning, development and construction phases of a 217,000-square-foot, $100M new patient tower that has been under construction since 2013. Deployed Lean teams to evaluate and improve current processes impacting the patient experience. Tower is expected to be completed six weeks head of schedule in June 2015 and $4M under budget. Opened an orthopedic spine service—the first for the community of North Platte, with projected revenue of $2.57M in 2015—that had been in development since 2013. Additionally, launched initiative to create an “Orthopedic Center of Excellence,” including recruitment of three orthopedic surgeons who are expected to generate $3.85M in revenue in 2015. Introduced Institute of Healthcare Improvement initiatives, including deployment of rapid response team, reduction in ventilator-associated pneumonia and decrease in central line infection into the culture of quality to elevate patient safety.
