I have known JR (Melvin) for a number of years, long before we ever worked together. While he was still in school, we would often talk about development; we would talk about different problems or ideas we had. As his knowledge and interest grew, I knew he would be a great person to work with, so when a position opened at my work, I pushed for him to get it. We had a sprint review just a few days after he started, even though I knew him for years, I was immediately impressed at how he could ask such great questions and get us to look at old problems in a new way all while knowing practically nothing about the project. His knowledge is vast, but what he doesn't know he will quickly learn and his work ethic is exemplar.
