I had the opportunity to work with Melorie through The Teaching Well on our racial healing initiative. While Melorie co-facilitated a space for AAPI folks to unpack and heal from racial harm they have experienced and/or caused in their lives, I was a co-facilitator for the white group. We brought our two groups together for a "cross-pollination" session, but not without a lot of meeting beforehand to set the conditions to make the session a positive one, especially for the AAPI participants. I appreciated Melorie's willingness to share the impact of racism in her life and I witnessed her curate a space for other APPI folks that inspired vulnerability. I saw her gently but firmly call in the voices of her group members to speak and for the words that followed to lead to introspection, affirmation, and healing for all.
