Melony Woodall was the Statewide, Director of Nursing (DON) responsible for "nursing services" to the State of Arizona Corrections Department while I was the Vice President of Operations for the Arizona contract with Corizon from Oct 2014 through Oct 2016. The scope of her responsibilities included oversight of nursing services to the entire state inmate population,. Melony is a very capable healthcare executive. Melony developed a new centralized onboarding process for nursing staff where she onboarded new employees in our corporate office in Tempe, AZ for one week. This allowed her to get to personally know all new onboarded nurses as well as transition new hires into the world of correctional healthcare. This process significantly increased retention and allowed Melony to personally take part of the new hires onboarding process. Melony was willing to assist in any capacity needed and was instrumental in educating nursing staff. The state was under a court ordered decree which resulted in multiple audits. Crossing T's and dotting I's were a priority and Melony's assistance in helping the nursing staff understand the accountability was beyond approach.
