I work in researching and developing new biosimulation models that can be used to teach both medical and veterinary students important surgical, and clinical skills. By using different types of silicon and molds realistic models of animal and human anatomy are created, in hopes that these will be used instead of cadavers. In working at this laboratory I gain an extra opportunity to understand anatomy, and to learn procedures that are helpful in the veterinary field. Assisted the veterinarians of the practice in routine calls and emergencies. I learned while under their supervision different clinical treatments, medications, and diagnostic techniques. These three things applied to dentistry, sports medicine, breeding, general care, and emergency patients. While working for this practice I also learned different ways of interacting with clients, and important people skills for the job. Waitress

Feb 2010 - Aug 2012
On and off during school I have worked as a hostess, and then a waitress at this establishment. Although it has nothing to do with veterinary medicine, this job has done worlds of good for my people skills and also my ability to work as a team. Working in a restaurant taught me how everyone must work together in order to be successful, and that when you play your role right it is extremely beneficial. Stable Manager
-
Mar 2005 - May 2010
I worked at this barn for close to six years and in that time I went from stable hand to handling the day to day running of the fifty stall establishment. During this time I learned equine care, behavior, and medical treatment as well. Being observant was key when dealing with so many animals, and ensuring their well being. The clients of the barn also taught me patience, understanding, and most importantly communication skills. All the hard work put into that place really made me learn that your own actions, hard work, and perseverance pays off. Show less
