May 25, 2023 Dear hiring committee, I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Melissa Woodruff. I have known Melissa for 14 years. I had come to know her very well as a student at my school and then a student in my classroom instructing her in both Math and Science and quickly becoming one of my favorite students. Over her school breaks she was hired as an aide and substitute at the school and in my classroom. Melissa has successfully completed her studies at GCU in two year's time with the highest of GPA's in all her studies. With her intelligence and dedication she should easily complete her Master's program. Ms. Woodruff's academic performance has always surpassed that of her peers. She always came to class prepared and ready for the day's work. Her performance was always top notch as was her understanding of the materials and appreciative of the complexity of the course material. I have always been impressed by Melissa's determination and sparkle. I know from discussions with my former colleagues and my 24 years of educational experience as both a teacher and administrator that Melissa will make an excellent teacher. Her knowledge is surpassed only by her desire to see every student succeed doing whatever it takes to help her students. She will no doubt make an excellent teacher not matter what assignment she is given. I recommend her highly and without reservation. Sincerely, John Barney, Head Teacher(retrd)

-This is an online system with modules through my graduate program -This system consists of modules that we go through with different assignments. The purpose of these modules is to familiarize ourselves with students profiles, progress, supports and needs. This are a great way for future teachers to familiarize themself with completing multiple tasks while teaching and understand the demands that come with creating and then getting through teaching a lesson. -This is an online system with modules through my graduate program -This system consists of modules that we go through with different assignments. My teaching statement: Just because a child communicates differently than we are used to does not mean they are incapable, every action, yell, fit, or phrase is a way of communication and it is our job to find what they are saying. There is a world full of engineering, research, devices and people, we are not all alike. Special Education students have a voice and I am here for it to be heard.Attached is an assignment I completed explaining the use of SEL in my classroom in order for my special needs students to feel safe, heard and comfortable. -I was already working at the school when I landed this position. It was during the height of COVID and I had been sent home from College due to the pandemic. Because I was an active employee and over the age of 18 I received my emergency substitute certification for the district and covered classes Kindergarten-5th grade daily over the course of the next year. My longest assignment was in third grade for a period of 3 weeks which was the defining factor for myself to go into education. -I was already working at the school when I landed this position.
