Employment Resources, Inc was one of the first (perhaps the first, but don't quote me) vocational service agencies in the state of OK that worked exclusively with people with disabilities. Melissa Waddell (and her husband & business partner, Brian) set the standard for the entire state at a time that the way Oklahoma served this population was going through a much needed complete restructuring. Melissa, Brian, & ERI continue to lead their field in furthering the independence of people with disabilities. Melissa's case load consists of all clients that come to the agency through DDSD (Developmental Disabilities Service Division), a subdivision of DHS (Department of Human Services). I primarily worked with her in relation to developing job opportunities for these clients and training them & their staff actually on the job site. Melissa was an extremely accessible supervisor. She always clearly defined tasks, something that made my job so much easier. When the situation would change suddenly (which they did all the time) she had the capability of thinking on her feet and quickly making the decisions necessary to adapt. I learned so much working for her.
