  The UK Government has an ambition to establish a Spaceport in the UK by 2021. Cornwall, working with our partner Virgin Orbit, and utilising our unique assets Cornwall Airport Newquay and Goonhilly Earth Station, will be the first horizontal launch site in the UK. We are an ambitious team that want to create a Satellite Launch Programme capability through providing a safe, licensed environment to operate, develop and launch innovative Spaceplane systems and their payloads. A Spaceport is a high profile opportunity for Cornwall to realise the full ambition of creating an influential space cluster in the UK and maximise potential for the UK and southern England. My role is to engage with pioneering companies that will support our ambitions, effectively promote our proposition to the industry, and put Cornwall at the forefront of the commercialisation of space.
