I provided comprehensive clinically focused staff development within obstetrics, utilizing the various roles of an educator including coach, mentor, facilitator, teacher, and evaluator of skills and knowledge. I facilitated educational development of unit-based preceptors. I conducted unit-based and classroom education in collaboration with others utilizing principles of adult learning, reflective practice, cultural diversity, and competency-based practice and novice to expert theory: In addition, I participated in staff orientation utilizing these same principles. I incorporated internal and external standards, evidence-based practice and research findings into unit-based and classroom education. I maintained and updated educational records on staff in areas of responsibility. I collaborated with staff, nursing management, colleagues in the education department colleagues, and others to assess learning needs and establish an annual education plan for areas of responsibility. I developed, implemented, evaluated and modified clinically based teaching-learning activities based on the assessed needs, levels of competence and standards of practice. I collaborated with education coordinators to ensure the educational needs of the assigned units were met. I conducted educational assessments of staff when colleagues, preceptors and/or nurse leaders identified a deficit in staffs’ knowledge. I provided feedback to nurse leaders related to educational assessment findings. I participated in providing education to new graduate nurses, nurse interns, student nurses, and physicians. I participated in the development of three educational offerings approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties for CMEs. I coordinated the Peri-Facts continuing education program.
