The Coalition & Relations Advocate sits in the affiliate’s Department of Community Engagement and works on building affiliate power by operating as a servant leader in many communities and coalitions, bringing together groups and organizations whose work speaks to a variety of issues that align with ACLU-WI priorities and long-term goals. Foregrounding criminal legal reform, including decarceration, jail voting work, basic needs resources including health and environment, this community advocate fulfills leadership positions within coalition spaces, drawing together needs, resources, and goals to intentionally activate those networks towards measurable outcomes that aligned with Community Engagement department overarching goals.Equally important is the long-arc maintenance of relationships, developing new connections, and operating in service to drive change and empowerment across the state and in prioritized areas of highest risk or potential for greatest impact. • Chair Wisconsin Jail Voting Rights Coalition
      • Jun 2022 - Present

I lead and collaborate with a team of partners, stakeholders and organizations on achieving two annual goals for the year. Our goals prioritize addressing basic needs in our jails before advocating for people in jail to vote. We come together with shared values, mission and resources. My leadership is human centered. Before any action is taken I establish relationships and culture in the coalition first. I do this by planning intentional time in our meeting agenda on getting to know each other as people, learning each other's strengths, things someone wants to learn and improve on, personal experience, likes and dislikes, their motivation and their skill sets. I am also intentional about celebrating each other, therefore making time to get to know each other outside of our meeting is important to do. Through this I collaborate and establish norms and community agreements on how we will work together in our space. Show less
