Melissa has extensive experience in dealing with financial and property matters involving large asset pools. Melissa frequently deals with complex financial issues involving businesses, trust and corporate structures and self-managed superannuation funds. Her expertise enables her to identify the nature and extent of the relevant assets and liabilities so that she can advise fully upon the likely outcomes should the matter proceed through the litigation process. Melissa appears in the Family Court of Western Australia on a regular basis dealing with matters primarily focused on financial matters including property settlement, spousal maintenance and child support issues. While the emphasis of Melissa’s practice is on financial matters she also acts for clients in resolving the often difficult and sensitive issues that can arise between parents. Melissa’s experience extends to representing clients in recovery and relocation applications when children have been taken interstate or moved within Western Australia. She has also dealt with cases involving allegations of child abuse. Melissa is one of a handful of solicitors in Western Australia who is qualified and successfully practised in the area of Collaborative Law. She has given papers at Conferences to other lawyers regarding the Collaborative Law approach and ethical obligations imposed on lawyers when acting for a client.
