I worked with Melissa when she was a nursing student at Cal State University, San Marcos during her clinical course: Nursing Fundamentals and Health and Physical Assessment. Melissa has a quiet kindness and compassion that she gives to the patients. She demonstrated a gentle, caring manner and the patient's were comforted by her approach. Melissa perfomed all nursing skills accurately and was always organized and thorough. Melissa was a great team member with the clinical group and was willing to offer assistance without having to be asked. Melissa is funny and she was a joy to have in my clinical group. I had the opportunity to work with Melissa again for a short while a few semesters later. What professional maturity she demonstrated! Patient advocate and confident with a caring and compassionate way about her. I am confident in recommending Melissa to work in your organization. The patients will love her!

Spent three weeks in Swaziland, the country with the highest prevalence of HIV, and is still growing. With this comes many STI's and cancers, especially cervical cancer. While here I worked at the only Hospice agency 'Hospice at Home' in the country as well as a local military clinic with fellow nursing students and professors. Here we assessed, diagnosed, and prescribed medications if needed, referred patients to the one doctor on site if needed, and made referrals to the TB, STI, and HIV clinics on site for testing for both pediatric and adult patients. http://www.avert.org/aids-swaziland.htm
