  As an intern at Dzanc Books, my primary duties consisted of manuscript content editing: reading around 50 pages of a submission and recommending/not recommending the script for publishing. The primary concerns for content were narrative, character development, concept, genre, readership and other big picture literary elements when grasping the feel of a submission. As part of the internship, we had weekly conferences where we learned all about the publication process such as different editorial styles and forms. The final project of the internship was to narrow down the submissions to the strongest options and organize them into a seasonal publication list. Show less
