Bio
Joel Larson
I hired Melissa to join the Financial Development team to serve as the Director of Grants and Foundation Relations in 2011. In this new role, Melissa helped our team to secure over $3 million annually in support of YMCA programs across the Twin Cities region from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, I also developed grant proposals and budgets collaboratively with Melissa securing over $600K in funding annually for YMCA urban youth programs in Saint Paul from 2008 to 2011. Melissa was always a dedicated employee with a deep commitment to the mission, caring deeply about the programs for which she raised money, and for the quality and integrity of her work. I greatly valued Melissa's leadership in the nonprofit community, in addition to her deep knowledge of both programs and grant management, her sense of team and ability to get along with others, her strong work ethic, her ability to effectively manage projects, and her attention to detail. Melissa would thrive in a fund development leadership role and I would highly recommend her for supervisory position. Sincerely, Joel Larson Sr. Manager, State Advocacy Y-USA Washington, D.C.
Amy Gage
Melissa and I were classmates in Leadership Saint Paul 2016. Now, we are collaborating on Education Day as members of the 2017 curriculum committee. She is extremely well networked in the education and nonprofit worlds and a generous collaborator who is eager to share her time, insights and ideas. I have learned a about Saint Paul College and the public school system in St. Paul through her. Education Day will be richer and deeper in June because of Melissa's contributions.
