May 2019 - Feb 2023
I was a health educator for 5 chronic disease prevention and management programs. I engaged with community members and stakeholders to provide quality health education programming through in-person and electronic means, including by phone, email, and web conferencing. I managed program and participant data to ensure quality research and evaluation outcomes for our grant objectives and for maintaining and reporting program quality to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Data was managed through various software including, REDCap, Excel, Qualtrics, and databases through the CDC. I revised and adapted program curricula to fit population needs, including making cultural adaptations, coordinating curriculum translation, and creating and adapting activities for material comprehension. I also wrote evidence-based articles and blogs to disseminate health information to the public through Clemson University's Home and Garden Information Center. In this role I also coordinated and led interns in completing their assigned daily tasks. Show less

English Second Language Teacher
-
Jan 2021 - Oct 2021
I taught 1 on 1 English lessons to up to 20 students from China per week virtually through the VIPKID online learning platform, totaling 222 unique students from age 5-15 across 590 different 1 on 1 classes. These classes range on topics from reading skills, grammar, vocabulary, and math. Through this experience I have developed key skills in scaffolding and tailoring each lesson to each student, whether that is helping them extend upon the lesson into additional conversation or break the lesson down into smaller pieces to focus on the student’s needs. I also used conversation to facilitate connections between the material and the student’s life. I engaged in periodic trainings on teaching English as a second language and cultural competency.
