Responsibilities:• Providing contract advice to individual members, often regarding their contracts with agents. • Industry advocacy through forums such as SINZ (Screen Industry New Zealand) and AAANZ (Actors Agents Association New Zealand).• Ensuring best practice standards such as the Equity New Zealand/SPADA Individual Performers Agreement are upheld.• Recruiting members through events and Drama School presentations.• Managing communications including, sending press releases, weekly ebulletins and maintaining a strong social media presence (largely Facebook and Instagram).• Educating members about professional matters such as standard contracts.• Reporting to the Equity New Zealand Executive Board; the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance National Performers Committee; and the International Federation of Actors’ Congress.Achievements:• I have represented Equity New Zealand on the Film Industry Working Group established by Minister Iain Lees-Galloway to develop a new framework for collective bargaining in the screen industry in New Zealand. We have successfully negotiated a framework which the whole industry is supportive of and which will ensure mandatory minimum standards can be negotiated collectively. This will be the first time this has ever been possible in New Zealand.• I have been invited to sit on the steering committee of Screen Sector 2030. We are an industry-led organisation charged with establishing a 10-year strategic plan for the New Zealand screen industry, as requested by the government.• Our membership has grown by 22% over the last 3 years, this is particularly significant given union membership is generally stagnant or decreasing slightly across New Zealand.• I have overseen the creation of a Member’s Hub in our Auckland office. This is a space where our members can come and work, rehearse and meet with others, use the new self-test studio and use the wifi and tea/coffee facilities.

I assisted in the preparation of a Coroner’s Inquiry relating to the New Zealand Police's Fleeing Driver Policy. Under the supervision of Deborah Manning, I did extensive analysis of the events of the night on which the son of our client died in a crash resulting from a chase. This involved analysing witness statements, radio communications, job sheets and police reports. It required the drafting of further requests for information under the Official Information Act. I analysed the events of the night against the policy and using this analysis and that from other such incidents, made recommendations as to how the New Zealand Fleeing Drivers Policy should be changed to ensure the safety of road users and that the Policy and Police practice did not compromise individuals’ Rights to Life.In particular: I researched and analysed the New Zealand Police Fleeing Drivers Policy. This involved performing a close analysis as to how New Zealand’s Policy compared to other such policies internationally and making recommendations for its improvement.I organised and managed the files relating to this case and assisted in writing requests for information under the Official Information ActI performed briefings for other lawyers and clerks coming onboard the case.I assisted Deborah in writing submissions for a coronial inquiry relating to the New Zealand Police Fleeing Drivers Policy.
