  The Dean of Students (Dean) supports scholars to ensure that they meet our high behavioral and character expectations, internalize the school’s values, develop strong character, and make significant academic gains. Key Responsibilities School Discipline ● Manages all disciplinary issues that arise in school; follows the Code of Conduct to ensure consistency and fairness for all disciplinary issues. ● Manages all student discipline records, documenting all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behavior ● Ensures that the school’s disciplinary program is compliant with all laws and regulations relating to school discipline; stays current with all laws, regulations and technical guidance School Culture/Behavior ● Support teachers, school leadership and the special education team in dealing with behavioral crisis-intervention and acute behavioral issues ● Provides one-on-one student support in classrooms when necessary ● Implements, with teacher and parent consultation, individual Behavior Intervention Plans and Safety Plans ● Oversees the school-wide behavior plan; is the point person for teacher and staff questions about the school’s color and positive incentive systems Attendance & Family Engagement ● Leads all parent meetings related to discipline and attendance in a manner that clearly communicates to families the school’s policies and expectations ● Help represent the school at family events (e.g., Kindergarten Orientation, Back-to-School night) ● Assist the social worker in coordinating family support and planning and hosting occasional family education and engagement sessions Show less
