I've had the privilege of being a preceptor to Melanie during her internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Melanie was with me in my clinic for one month and I had the opportunity to see her turn from a student into a colleague within that time as she performed staff relief in her final week. She was eager to learn, ready to help with any projects, and used evidence-based practice to educate our patients in Diabetes care and nutrition. Her prior work experience allows her to work with confidence, but she always maintained a sense of humility and willingness to learn and grow. She is kind, compassionate, and caring, creating connections with patients that are essential in our practice. Melanie will be an asset to any institution or company she joins.

Rya Clark, RDN LSSBB

Melanie was 1 of 4 interns to complete the research rotation of her dietetic internship under my preceptorship in Fall of 2019, and delivered such great work I invited her back for a special rotation in Fall of 2020. Melanie is simply a pleasure to work with. She was an excellent team collaborator among her 3 fellow interns and my clinical nutrition team. Rare among interns and younger practitioners, Melanie can grasp both the big picture problem and remain focused on the details that matter by using critical thinking and sound clinical judgment. Her work ethic is impeccable, and the deliverables she turned in were outstanding in quality. I am confident Melanie will be an asset to any organization, and I look forward to her contributions to the profession of dietetics.
