Key responsibilities: 1. Performing preliminary assessments on prospective clients to ensure that the deal falls within mandate, is viable and all regulatory requirements are met 2. Performing detailed due diligences on clients: - Financial involves the structuring of a transaction by way of a financial model (determining the financial instrument, repayment period, term of facility, etc) to ensure the lender’s interests are protected, and it is a viable option for the client. - Marketing involves assessing the market for the client’s product, which includes an analysis of customers, competitors, and the macroeconomic environment. This includes the preparation of the sales budget and selling expenses as an input to the financial model (to assess the transaction wholistically) - Technical involves an analysis of the client's production process, capacity, premises and production related costs to assess the request for expansion or start-up funding. - Leading teams involves planning of the due diligence and coordinating all team members involvement (including Legal, Risk, and other support departments). Also includes managing deals to loan disbursement. 3. Portfolio management (Reviewing performance of existing clients in my portfolio including monitoring repayments and potential growth opportunities) Experience: While at IDC, I have been exposed to the following: 1. Funding of companies in various industries including Tourism, ICT, Jewellery, Furniture and Electronics, dealing with small start-up entities and large corporates with a varying approach to funding each client (Deal size ranging from R1 to R200 million); 2. Funding of start-up companies that have developed innovative products and/ processes and require access to commercialisation capital; 3. Funding through various instruments including ordinary shares, preference shares, mezzanine debt and senior debt; 4.
