Kathleen Morgan

I had the pleasure of working with Mehtap during her PhD studies at Boston University. She's a self-starter and significantly advanced the work my lab was doing at that time on the molecular mechanisms of CaMKII. She's an extremely bright young woman and a creative scientist.

I had the pleasure of working with Mehtap as a part of a scientific study of the effects of the stress of sailing the Volvo Ocean Race upon the body. Mehtap was coordinator for the study on behalf of the medtech company Alvimedica, the sponsor of the boat who's crew we were studying. Alvimedica also partially funded the research study. I was co-investigator for the study. In short, Mehtap's performance was exceptional. She performed excellently under extreme working conditions literally around the clock at times, was structured in an otherwise chaotic environment, kept a leveled head, had attention to detail, flexibility, was solution oriented. I was particularly impressed by her loyalty, inner compass, and ability to negotiate and coordinate operations under stress between various stakeholders with very adamant and often opposing agendas. On top of that, she was very pleasant to work with. I give her my strongest recommendations.

I investigated the contractility of the smooth muscle cells for cardiovascular diseases at Interdepartmental Molecular, Cell Biology and Biochemistry Program at one of the top universities in the world. I had worked under the guidance of Kathleen G. Morgan, who was Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School & Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, and former CEO of Boston Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI) and chair of the health Science department at Boston University. Kathleen G. Morgan has been also leading researcher in the world for smooth muscle cells and cardiovascular diseases. My PhD thesis under her guidance entitled as “Phosphorylation dependent regulation of CaMKII gamma activity and its implication in vascular smooth muscle function”. Show less
