Our services catered to over 260 children and youth with disabilities, with a variety of disabilities ranging from ASD and Down syndrome, to over 30 other conditions, both developmental and physical, some children had overlapping needs. • Scheduled and conducted needs assessments for incoming families to understand the child’s specific needs and background and directed the caregiver to the appropriate programming and resources such as funding options, respite services, and culturally appropriate allied health/therapy recommendations to support their child(ren) with a disability.

Aphasia Telephone Communication Support

• Selected as one of four skilled volunteers to participate in this pilot project, in conducting weekly phone/zoom calls with assigned clients with aphasia, to minimize social isolation during COVID-19 by engaging in friendly conversation, while implementing the techniques of supported conversation for adults with aphasia.• Engaging in weekly follow up with the SLP and CDA regarding the well-being of the client, and how the program is going so far, to ensure quality service and the possibility of making the program permanent to support our clients after the pandemic.
