Radio (wireless) communications systems have moved a long way in the last 100 years, from radio broadcasting, the first mass-market application, to today's ubiquitous Smartphones offering an array of applications and communication at ever-increasing data rates. The advent of the integrated circuit enabled this much increasing functionality and complexity and the microprocessor, facilitating miniaturization and low-cost, high-volume manufacture. We tried to implement hardware-software co-design and co-simulation for telecommunication systems using software-defined platforms. We were explicitly simulating and implementing an OFDM and a Single Carrier Frequency-domain Equalization system using the High-Level Synthesis methodology. Our research spans from theoretical analysis to system-level design, Matlab, Python, C/C++ programming, and practical evaluations. Show less
