Leading and managing SEDF to fulfil its mandate of developing agri value chains, enabling export-oriented Agri-SMEs and encouraging private investment into Sindh’s agri sector. I have played key role on two key fronts:a) Investments and FundingMobilized private investment of over Rs. 8 bn (USD 50 mn) in various value chains of the agri-business sector inculcating technology and improved practices for overall efficiencies.Developed partnership with WWF and co-launched Dutch Fund for Climate & Development worth 170 million euros. The fund seeks to improve well-being, economic prospects and livelihoods of vulnerable groups- particularly women and youth.b) Innovation and SystemisationDevised a transparent and sustainable mechanism disbursing SEDF financial assistance to approved agri-business SMEs across the province. Initiated creation of electronic platform for trading of agri-commodities at Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited.Incubated agri-collateral manager ecosystem in Pakistan, which led to full-scale launch of first-ever collateral-based lending mechanism in the agricultural sector of Pakistan. Increased access to finance and markets for farmers resulted in delivering standardised quality and lowering post-harvest losses to the sector. Developed an eco-system in the agri-business sector to improve access to finance by collaborating with the State Bank of Pakistan and Participating Financial Institutions.Introduced farm-level mechanization in the rice cluster for better yield (almost a 60-100% increase) and crop quality on sustainable commercial basis which has led to a reduced dependency on grant-based model. Partnered with Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN)- hosted by UNIDO for promoting clean energy in agri projects.Facilitated UN-ITC GRASP project (size: euro 48 mn) for devising implementation strategy to support development of micro, SMEs in livestock & horticulture clusters for growth, rural advancement and sustainable progress.
