I lead the Office of Environmental Sustainability at Oberlin College and Conservatory. I focus on strategic development and implementation of College’s energy, utility, and sustainability initiatives, projects, and programs while collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, the Board of Trustees, and community partners. I utilize my technical energy engineering expertise, together with my background in planning and facilitation to foster a culture of good environmental stewardship to help create the most vibrant, healthy, and sustainable College for all to learn, teach, work, play, and enjoy. Specifically, I am responsible for developing and implementing strategies to sharply reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions at the College. My work involves design review of new, more efficient system designs for compliance with best engineering practices, consistency with the College’s commitment to carbon neutrality, and conformance with the College’s standards for capital projects. I am a key member of the Committee on Environmental Sustainability, which promotes implementation of the Oberlin College Environmental Policy, and I support and serve the planning group for the Oberlin Project; a college-city partnership and model of integrated sustainability.
