I am currently working at the TIEP (Tennessee Intensive English Program) at UTM, where I teach a variety of courses in a 6 level system. These courses vary on type and skill from grammar, listening and speaking, reading, and writing. I am also responsible for leading the Conversation Partners Program, where we match international students with participating American students so that they can develop a sense of one another and the cultures that are attached to their personas. Additionally, I have recently began coordinating for grammar class revision, which requires me to review objectives and student learning objectives for all levels of grammar offered in our program, and select books and materials that would promote a thorough understanding of grammar covered in each level. I taught the Engineering curriculum students preparatory English for a 2+2 program between Dalian Jiaotong University and Valparaiso University. This program, if the students are successful, will consist of two years of engineering and English at Dalian Jiaotong University and then another 2 years at Valparaiso University where they will finish the remainder of their engineering education. I spearheaded the first ever year of this program, and laid down important framework so that they students and future faculty could facilitate and quality and rewarding program. Show less

I was in charge of a variety of students at different levels, but most range from intermediate low to advanced low. I taught Intermediate low grammar and writing, intermediate mid reading, advanced low speaking and listening and I taught American literature in an intensive reading and writing elective. My responsibilities outside of the classroom (aside from lesson planning) were to manage grades on our transcript platform, detailing anything from student performance, motivation, and even absences, as well as assist students with their adjustment to life in the United States. I have done everything from picking students up from the Office of International Education to get their necessary items (bedding, pillows, etc.) to advising students on their progress in terms of classwork and their abilities to exceed expectations on their TOEFL ITP tests.
