From August 2014 to May 2015, as part of my advanced practice internship at the University of Utah, I have worked under Beth Wolfgram MS, RD, CSSD, CSCS as a Sports Nutrition Department intern. In this position, I have acted as the supervised liaison for men’s tennis and softball performance nutrition needs, as well as assisted with football, men’s basketball, track, swim, women’s tennis, and women’s soccer athletes. Position responsibilities included: managing athlete fueling station, organizing and presenting team education sessions, assisting with athlete cooking demonstrations and grocery store tours, conducting individual athlete consultations, and planning with interdisciplinary sports staff. Conducted more than 500 USP hydration tests, more than 50 individual athlete consultations, more than 25 BODPOD body composition evaluations, and more than 20 team talks with men’s tennis, men’s basketball, women’s softball, swim/dive, football, and track and field athletes.

Completed 7 weeks of Clinical Nutrition internship and 4 weeks of Food Service internship at McKay Dee Hospital prior to Community and Advanced Practice Placement (University of Utah Athletics) to be eligible for the Registered Dietitian Exam. Assisted McKay Dee Hospital clinical RDs with patient assessment, evaluation, and nutritional provisions in telemetry, rehab, ICU, medical surgery, labor & delivery, and NICU hospital units. Served one week of staff relief on medical ICU and medical surgery units acting as clinical dietitian for patient care, including enteral and parenteral nutrition provisions. Reconstructed Diet Tech training manual for McKay Dee Foodservice employees including updated nutrient requirements for medical diets.
