Megan and I co-lead the Health and Welfare Department at UCSD Extension. Known for her efficiency, creativity and compassion, Megan added many professional qualities that helped us excel in our work. Some highlights of our time together involved overhauling the Health & Welfare Advisor position, and helping the department save tens of thousands of dollars (fixing financial oversights), which earned us two raises in our first 10 months of work. Additionally, Megan's fluent Arabic was a crucial language skill she used to communicate with our international student body. Megan gave powerful presentations to the UCSD Extension students on health and wellness issues and always had her office door open for student visitors that needed to talk to a counselor. I could not have asked for a better, more well-equipped, or dedicated colleague to share my time with at UCSD Extension. An expert in the ESL industry and all things Excel related- she used her personal connections and knowledge to advance our daily productivity. Megan shined in times of crisis, when one of us would leave to work with the student in the hospital or medical emergency- she would quickly handle all administrative protocol to ensure communication lines were clear between our department, our directors, our staff, the student, and the student's family (even if they lived in another country). Best of all, she made a tenacious and high stress job, fun despite demands. Her presence was always positive and her knowledge was so valuable as it allowed us to meet our deadlines and to also ensure that the highest quality was delivered in our performance. I would highly suggest working with Megan in future career opportunities as she has been one of the most trustworthy and enjoyable colleagues I have had the privilege of working with.

Megan was an amazing asset to our team! She was always very enthusiastic to learn, help others and motivate our team with her infectious positive personality. She has a great outlook towards the team's goals and was always a great team player. She put care into each of her student's needs and helped each one very thoroughly. We definitely miss her, but know that she will be a great positive influence wherever her next career step takes her.

Teaching English to adult students, I am responsible for all aspects of classroom management. I teach all levels (beginner to advanced) in both General English and Conversation classes, usually to groups of 8-15 students. Lesson planning, designing activities, grading homework, and teaching English to are my main responsibilities. In addition to this, I do some academic advising to students wanting to learn more about TOEFL, IELTS, and international education in the US and abroad. I also work as an administrative assistant, helping to design and edit new curriculum for the Academy, including tech-editing the textbooks and designing activities and games to supplement teaching materials.

As Health & Welfare Advisor, my main responsibilities were to help students navigate the US healthcare system. Working essentially as a "case manager" for individual students, I advised them on their choices in healthcare, helped arrange doctor's appointments, and helped ensure accuracy and payment for medical bills. In addition to working with individual students, I worked with all incoming students and/or their agents to ensure that medical TB test and insurance requirements were met before issuing acceptance documents. On more than one occasion, I worked as a crisis manager, helping students deal with medical emergencies, as well as helping them find medical attention. I would advise them on their academic responsibilities, and choices to withdraw or postpone their studies in the face of a medical crisis.

As International Student Advisor, I had my hand in many aspects of school administration, and worked with students, agents, teachers, and fellow staff members to ensure smooth operation of school functions. I was responsible for developing school domestic sales, including walk-in students, and extensions of existing students. I would advise students on the appropriate course for their needs, as well as the international student transfer process. Sales goals were often exceeded by up to 250% in 2014 and 2015. Academically, I would work with attendance and visa requirements, helping students understand their academic responsibilities in the US while on a student visa. With students arriving and departing each week, I also helped facilitate orientation and graduation presentations, as well as document collection and records-keeping.

Working exclusively with Arab scholarship students, my duty was to provide excellent customer service and visa support to students enrolling at the Kaplan International west coast schools. Working closely with their embassies and scholarship bodies regarding academic progress, I would tactfully and discreetly advise students and their SACM advisors regarding F-1 student transfers, attendance warnings, and unsatisfactory progress at the Kaplan schools. As Sales and Admissions Coordinator, I was responsible for promoting sales and retention of students at 11 English Language institutes across the USA. Working in the main sales office, I worked with CRM programs to quickly and efficiently handle incoming communications in the forms of calls, emails, and website inquiries. I won a summer sales competition in 2012 for highest sales among the team members.I also worked closely with Arab scholarship students. I traveled to each EF school to offer "Arab Student Meetings" with the goal of increasing students' sense of responsibility, encouraging them to do their best, and offering incentives for refering their friends to EF schools. We also spoke to them to try and decrease poor behaviors such as bad attendance, unsatisfactory academic progress, and low rates of retention. I acted as liaison between EF scholarship students and their embassies.
