  • Cared for 24 mammals and birds • Spent 100 hours preparing morning and evening meals by chopping vegetables and measuring out the proper quantities of dry food and vitamins • Prepared and administered appropriate doses of daily medications for the animals • Spent over 400 hours cleaning all enclosers • Daily animal presentations from May - September regarding 4 different mammals to groups of about 10-30 people • Over 1,000 hours in the contact yard ensuring the safety of the guest and the goats • Helped run the Junior Zoo Program working with and training over 15 Teenagers from the ages of 14-17 to do general keeper work and how to give animal presentations • Spent over 150 hours working with volunteers 18 and older to help with zookeeper tasks • Participated in morning meetings with 5-7 other employees to ensure the area was meeting animal care standers • Prepared weekly enrichment for all 24 mammals and birds to engage their minds • Filled out paperwork about daily tasks, daily task completion, the animals upcoming care needs, and the medications that had been given out for the day, and what dosage was used Show less
